Description
This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 is the very definition of iconic American muscle—restored, refined, and ready to impress. Finished in factory-correct Cranberry Red with a contrasting black vinyl top, this Chevelle presents as a showpiece of the muscle car era, showcasing a full restoration and a host of desirable factory options. The unmistakable "coke-bottle" body lines are beautifully highlighted by glossy red paint and complemented by SS badging, hood pins, drip rail moldings, and all the correct brightwork. Riding on 14x7 factory-correct wheels wrapped in Goodyear Polyglas white-letter tires, the stance is pure 1970s street dominance.
Under the functional cowl-induction hood lies a powerful 454ci LS5 V8 engine, originally rated at 360 horsepower and a pavement-ripping 500 lb-ft of torque. Though the block was decked during the rebuild—removing the original stampings—the engine is believed to be numbers matching. Backing this legendary powerplant is a Muncie M22 “Rock Crusher” 4-speed manual transmission, also believed to be original to the car, feeding power to a 12-bolt Positraction rear axle with factory 3.31 gears. Power front disc brakes and power steering give this Chevelle the kind of road manners expected from a car that blends performance with cruise-night charm. Underneath, the chassis is clean, crisp, and shows off optional performance suspension components, Flowmaster exhaust, and the unmistakable tough-as-nails M22 trans housing.
Inside the cabin, black bucket seats surround a factory console and iconic round-shift knob. Although the car was originally optioned with an Ivory interior, it now features a professionally restored black interior that pairs perfectly with the car’s aggressive exterior aesthetic. The sport steering wheel, full set of factory gauges including tachometer, lap and shoulder belts, chrome trim accents, AM radio/cassette unit, and “SS” badging all remain in place. The dash is in beautiful condition, and the view through the windshield is dominated by that pronounced cowl scoop—just as it should be. The trunk is clean and correctly finished with factory splatter paint, trunk mat, and spare tire. Factory air conditioning components are in place under the hood, giving added comfort to an already highly optioned car.
